Gravity Drip Irrigation

Postby alexvpp » June 23 2006

Hello,

I´d like to implement a gravity drip irrigation system, but I am full of doubts...

In my system, I will have a difference of 30 meters.
How should I deal with the unconstant pressure (high levels!) on the pipes?

please, share your experience!

Two options:

Snake a small diameter line back and forth across the hillside, with the line supplied from the top.

The line will lose pressure all the way down from the emitters along the way. This is simple, but will need some tuning/ pressure checking. This is most easily accomplished with adjustable rate emitters.

2nd option: Have a main line running down the slope, with laterals going across the slope, with pressure reduction as appropriate.

Good luck!
