"PVC destroys the environment"

Postby oasis » September 19 2009

In general very useful and cool info. Not so sure about the hyperbolic comment,"PVC destroys the environment" though. And isn't that PVC pipe I see in the photo captioned Leveling a Laundry to Landscape Line...? Thanks,
Dave

Yes, it is PVC in the picture. For many of the plumbing systems we design, we are only partway through the transition from PVC to more benign alternatives. Even HDPE lines generally use PVC connectors. The stuff is damnably difficult to escape entirely. PVC is so nasty, we decided to publicize the issue even as we're working on the resolution and remain tainted by the problem ourselves...you can see more on the evils of PVC under "why you shouldn't buy these valves" (that we sell) at http://www.oasisdesign.net/greywater/divertervalves.htm
