Challenging distribution layout

Postby ptone » July 29 2010

I have a challenging distribution problem, where the exit point from the laundry area is in the middle, and downhill side of the yard. There is no easy route to run the distribution across the yard at height. There is only a very small rise of around 1 foot, but at an L shaped distance of some 50 ft - this is around 2 gallons in the line, I'm thinking this is too much?

Does it work to put a slow drain of some sort at the low end, such that during use, most water is pushed to the high side, but then the system slowly drains dry? Are there any other creative tricks for this sort of situation?

Here is a quick schematic (also attached):

Yeah, this is a non-ideal situation.

However, your system will probably work out anyway.

Here's the inventory of options, as I see them:

1) Can you run it at height along a fence or something?

2) Try it with the two gallons of water left in the line, and see if smell is even an issue

3) If it is, do the outlet at the low point idea you suggested. This will work, but at a small enough size to not bleed off too much water, will probably need frequent cleaning,

Good luck...please write back and let us know who it turns out.

I have a very similar situation with my L to L system. I run the washer into a surge tank with a pantyhose filter then into multiple 1/2' HDPE lines. There is enough pressure to push water to the higher points. When the tank drains completely the water in the high line drains down out the lower lines. Systems been up for 2 years and working great so far.
