Latrines in Africa

I recall reading about village-sized latrines in a book called "excreta
disposal for rural areas and small communities" by the World Health
Organization. I don't know that a kit is available, I believe they are built
uniquely one by one. Intermediate technology publications in England may
have info of this sort, as well.
